How to Improve Reception of TV Antenna?

TV antennas are never out of trend. They are always in current times. Many people thought that the era of antenna bade farewell when the 1990s ended. But we all know it is not true. We see antennas set up on the roofs of our neighbors. A big chunk of the population is dependent on the free-to-air channels and not the cable. Without paying big amounts on a monthly basis they get to see what matters. TV antennas show not only news broadcasts but also movies and some other fun time shows. Therefore, it is still popular among the public.

Many users of TV antennas think that the reception of their antenna is not ideal. In order to boost the reception and make the quality good following are some ideas which you can try.

1. The antenna must be near to the broadcast tower: Before you install your antenna check where the broadcast tower is. Wherever it is, make sure the antenna is fixed as near to it as possible. Since the TV signals there would be stronger, therefore, you will better reception.

2. Higher the antenna, better the reception: Pick the highest possible place for your antenna installation. Indoor fixation is the worst. There is no guarantee to receive the best signals because there is too much interruption. In higher locations, there is minimum interruption due to which the reception is very clear. What came in your mind? Roof? Yes, roofs are good. But even on roof find a place which is extra high. If you can’t find anything higher you can make one. With the help of bricks and cement, you can make a stand and fix it on the wall of the roof.

3. No metals should surround the antenna: Antennas are really picky. They can’t adjust everywhere. You must give them an ideal environment. They lose their signal catching tendency when placed in 6 feet distance of a metal. Be it your window grill or screws, bars or other household stuff the reception becomes poor. Needless to say, install an antenna in a place where there Is no metal in sight in 6 feet distance. Antenna emit radio waves which are absorbed by metals giving poor results.

4. Fix it on the roof or in a window: Ideal placement for an antenna is on the roof. If you don’t own a roof or your roof is already occupied to install an antenna you can fix it in your window. Installing in the window can ruin your window view for sure but you will get a clear TV signal reception.

5. Secure your antenna against the weather: This is important. Many users of the antenna simply install them and forget about them forever. From time to time you must check the condition of the spot where you have installed it. With time, that place can deteriorate with rain and strong winds. Anytime the installations can all loose resulting in the fall of an antenna. This usually happens in heavy rains and storms.
